Position Description:

ACR provides high-quality home healthcare and assistance for people with disabilities in over 40 locations throughout the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN metro area. The Weekend Direct Care Professional (WDCP) position is very similar to a Direct Support Professional or DSP position in that you are responsible for meeting the emotional and physical needs of the people we support, being a positive role model, and helping them meet their personal goals. The Residential Supervisor (RS) position is not a typical "punch the clock" type of position but rather a lifestyle that allows you to have a more flexible work schedule including the possibility of some work from home. The RS manages and maintains all aspects of the group home. Examples of tasks you would be completing as an RS:

- being on-call for shifts during the weekdays and some weekends/holidays; supervising and scheduling the staff in the home (typically 10-20 people);

- working at least 2 direct care shifts per week (often it's more than 2, however hours worked above and beyond your contracted direct care hours will be paid at $25/hour). This typically means working some evening, weekend and holiday hours;

- supervision of staff;

- creating a monthly work schedule for the Direct Care Professionals at your home and ensuring that all the shifts are covered;

- assisting in training of new staff;

- conducting staff meetings;

- household operations including grocery shopping, ordering medications and supplies, delegation and oversight of certain tasks to direct care staff;

- working with parents, guardians, social workers, day programs, and healthcare professionals to create the best plan of care possible for each resident;

- scheduling and taking residents to medical and dental appointments;

- assisting the residents in completing goals;

- various administrative tasks (e.g. creating program plans, follow up on medical appointments, monthly and annual resident reports, managing the budget);

-maintaining the house and grounds;

- and making sure staff and the house meet licensing requirements

The RS has the option to live at the ACR home they manage RENT FREE with utilities included. INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

Students must first be hired as a Direct Care Professional to have access to our internship program. Internships are offered to any employee at any point in time during their employment with ACR Homes. Once you have completed training to become a Direct Care Professional, you can meet with our internship coordinator at any point during your employment to begin your research or project based internship that can be done in any major/field of study.

Because the internship is customizable, choose a topic of research that supports your personal interests and/or your major. Identify a "problem" that you would like to solve, and use your research to write a paper and solve it. You can even make recommendations to change a residents care plan, implement a new alternative therapy or treatment, or helpful activity and use the internship to improve the quality of life for a resident or group of residents. During the course of the internship, the coordinator will aid your research and help provide you with real-life experiences. You will write a paper on your experience and receive a letter of recommendation from the CEO of ACR Homes after your final presentation.

DIRECT CARE PROFESSIONAL (DCP):

As a Direct Care Professional, you will receive paid medical training that will allow you to care for the physical, medical and emotional needs of our residents in a residential group home setting. You will also advocate for the residents on appointments and in the community.
