Position Description:

Merchology is a leading eCommerce retailer in B2B sales of co-branded merchandise including apparel, headwear, drinkware, gifts, and accessories.


Merchology is in pursuit of an Operations Leadership Intern to join their warehouse team for “peak season”! This position is responsible for overseeing individual and team performance to successfully meet company cost, quality, and delivery objectives.


This is a great opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to use their business and management skills to impact an established local company. This paid internship/co-op offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight into the daily operations of our organization under the guidance of experienced professionals. This opportunity usually runs from September to January.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Take ownership and accountability for all safety and quality incidents within your area of responsibility.

Ensure process is followed for batch, domestic, and international shipping of customer orders.

Provide leadership through effective employee relations, including positive communications, 1:1 employee meeting, coaching, training, and development.

Document negative and positive performance issues, conduct annual reviews, and provide timely feedback.

Support order processing accuracy and speed through daily hands-on involvement plus leading extra hours of utilization/overtime as needed to reach revenue objectives.

Oversee, implement, and enforce safety training for all employees including overall company committee participation, RTK, and other applicable regulatory compliance.

Manage attendance exceptions, timecard approval, and time off requests in Paylocity.

Work with HR to manage staffing levels from interviewing and hiring to conducting disciplinary action and termination processes.

Identify problems, develop solutions, and implement change when necessary.

Inspire, influence, and guide others to participate in common goals.

Communicate regularly and openly with Operations Manager, Customer Support, and other functional areas as necessary to balance priorities, answer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Assist Operations Manager in executing operational budget by meeting and/or exceeding financial goals and controlling variable expenses.

Effectively delegate and empower others to manage increasing workload as needed.

Foster a culture of transparency and respect - exhibit Servant Leadership ideologies while coaching employees for success

Meet individual KPI’s and objectives assigned within the timeline identified.

Creation and updating of process and procedures in conjunction with other warehouse leaders to improve Operational execution.

Maintain high internal customer satisfaction and work well with external partners.

Complete required training and development objectives within assigned time frame

As an Exempt leader be on site a minimum of 40 hours in a typical week with additional hours as necessary to support Non-Exempt overtime, company needs, and/or role responsibilities.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong leadership attributes with 2-5 years of experience leading people/teams.

Experience with Lean Manufacturing or other continuous improvement methodologies

English speaking and able to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and external contacts.

Computer Skills either PC or MAC, Microsoft Office Suite proficiency

Ability to create and document processes with written procedures.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Candidates must also possess the ability to apply abstract concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
