Position Description:
AmeriCorps Promise Fellows serve as caring adults who support, mentor, and build positive relationships with young people in 6-12th grade on their path to high school graduation. Fellows provide one-on-one and small group support to students in a school or non-profit organization. Fellows receive training in student-mentor relationship-building skills and goal-setting techniques. Fellows receive support and training throughout the year and are encouraged to explore their own goals and have the opportunity to be paired with a Life Coach.
As an AmeriCorps member, you will provide direct support to up to 30 students in the areas of:
-Attendance: Provide attendance coaching, call home if students miss class, and increase student attendance by creating a caring adult relationship.
-Engagement: Provide avenues for increased youth engagement in school and the broader community by coordinating programs like lunchtime mentoring, book clubs, promoting youth leadership development, and connecting youth with civic opportunities.
-Course Performance: Help students set academic goals and provide before, in, and after school educational support for individuals and small groups as students work towards their goals.
Promise Fellows are placed at a school or community-based organization during their term of service. There will be monthly opportunities to connect with other AmeriCorps Promise Fellows as a larger team. Service host sites are located in, though not limited to, Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro, St. Cloud, Northfield, and Duluth.
Minimum REQUIREMENTS:

● High School graduate with a Diploma or GED
● A U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States

Position Description:
The Alliance’s AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program builds organizational capacity by strengthening and connecting existing resources and best practices to better serve youth facing poverty, racism, and educational inequities in our state. -Build capacity at their host site organization to help address education inequities such as the achievement and opportunity gaps
-Coordinate efforts that bridge and build the integration of school and community-wide support for youth focused on providing and sharing resources that increase a young person’s school attendance, behavior, and course performance (all indicators with a strong link to academic engagement and high school graduation)
-Actively engage youth as agents of change in closing the opportunity and achievement gaps in their communities.
Minimum Requirements:
-18 or older by the time your service starts
-a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
