Position Description:

Overview
Western National is seeking motivated Underwriting Associate/Trainees to join our Commercial Lines team. This exciting opportunity will allow you to work closely alongside our Underwriters to assist them and our customers throughout the Underwriting Lifecycle.



The primary function of this position is to assist underwriting in profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.



The full hiring range for this role is: $21.60-$30.20 hourly; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates outside of the range listed above are encouraged to apply and will be considered based upon their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.

Responsibilities
Assists underwriters in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, and endorsements.
Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority.
Reviews new and renewal business application documents, gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies.
Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations, applying judgment to interpret related information, policies and procedures.
Executes policies within established authority level or recommends solutions when outside of authority level.
Communicates with assigned agencies and underwriters.
Qualifications
Interest in Property and Casualty Insurance world with a focus on Underwriting or Underwriting Support.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow established processes and procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Intermediate Word/Excel ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or Finance (or equivalent related experience) is preferred.
Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN or Seattle, WA.

Western National Mutual Insurance Company seeks to expand its Claims team by adding a Claims Intern in our Auto, Property, and Worker's Compensation departments. The full hiring rang for this role is: $19.30-$27.00/hourly; however, the base pay offered for this position will begin at $20.00/hour.
