As a Direct Care Professional (DCP), you are responsible for meeting the emotional and physical needs of the people we support, being a positive role model, and helping them meet their personal goals. You will be assisting them with their daily living skills such as self-care, meals, transportation, and medical needs. You will also accompany them on a variety of recreational and leisure-time activities.

Examples of tasks completed on shift:
*Some tasks may or may not be completed in different homes. This is not a comprehensive list.
- Preparing and passing medications (we will train you)
- Assisting residents at meal times
- Use of medical equipment such as hoyers, G/J tubes, blood pressure cuffs, oxygen tanks, ostomy bags etc. (we will train you)
- Completing range of motion and other therapies
- Assisting residents with personal cares
- Finding fun activities in and outside of the house to do with residents
- Advocating for residents during routine doctor appointments
- Building relationships with residents

Flexible PT and FT hours available - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Convenient 4-6-8 hour shifts available for flexibility with class schedules. Full-time employees are eligible for full benefits.

The RS manages and maintains all aspects of the group home. The RS's responsibilities include supervising and scheduling the staff in the home (typically 10-20 people); managing the budget; scheduling and taking residents to medical and dental appointments; interacting with parents, medical, and county professionals; maintaining the house and grounds; working both direct care and doing administrative work (total of about 40-50 hours per week) and carrying an ACR cell phone; writing monthly and quarterly reports as needed; making sure staff and the house meet licensing requirements; and ensuring that all the shifts are covered.

This position allows you to have a flexible work schedule including the ability to work from home. Examples of tasks you would be completing as an RS:
- Creating a monthly work schedule for the Direct Care Professionals at your home
- Assisting in training of new staff
- Conducting staff meetings
- Ordering medications and supplies
- Delegating tasks as you see fit
- Working 2 shifts of direct care per week
- Working with social workers and healthcare professionals to create the best plan of care possible for each resident
- Assisting the residents in completing goals
- Various administrative tasks - etc.

The Benefits:

In addition to the FREE Housing option, the RS position comes with a very competitive salary (Starting at $45,000/year for each of the first 2 years. $48,250/year for third year and beyond) and includes health care coverage; FREE Nice Healthcare, and a generous retirement plan.

The RS has the option to live at the ACR home they manage rent free with utilities included. Live-in supervisors and their spouse/children (if applicable) live rent-free in an apartment on the upper or lower level of the home separate from the level the residents live on. Live-in apartments can comfortably fit a family and include 2-3 bedrooms, 1-2 bathrooms, kitchen/dining area, living room, laundry room, off street parking, and typically outdoor access to either the ground floor or deck. INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

Students must first be hired as a Direct Care Professional to have access to our internship program. Internships are offered to any employee at any point in time during their employment with ACR Homes. Once you have completed training to become a Direct Care Professional, you can meet with our internship coordinator at any point during your employment to begin your research or project based internship that can be done in any major/field of study.

Because the internship is customizable, choose a topic of research that supports your personal interests and/or your major. Identify a "problem" that you would like to solve, and use your research to write a paper and solve it. You can even make recommendations to change a residents care plan, implement a new alternative therapy or treatment, or helpful activity and use the internship to improve the quality of life for a resident or group of residents. During the course of the internship, the coordinator will aid your research and help provide you with real-life experiences. You will write a paper on your experience and receive a letter of recommendation from the CEO of ACR Homes after your final presentation.

Internship aspects include, but are not limited to:

3. Networking luncheons with medical professionals
4. A field trip to the Mayo Clinic (offered in the summer)

REQUIREMENTS:

-Access to some sort of transportation

-Have the ability to maintain at least 2-3 shifts/week in a part-time role. Staff should plan for 4-6-8 hour shifts, but there are shorter half shifts available at some of our homes.

-Have the intention of working beyond a few months in order to use the training you receive and provide our residents with some stability.

-Have the ability to read, write and speak the English language.

-No previous experience is required. ACR Homes offers paid training to all employees. We are looking for students who will be responsible, respectful and empathetic.


DIRECT CARE PROFESSIONAL (DCP):
As a Direct Care Professional, you will receive paid medical training that will allow you to care for the physical, medical and emotional needs of our residents in a residential group home setting. You will also advocate for the residents on appointments and in the community. In addition to that, you will have the opportunity to enjoy fun activities with the residents and build genuine friendships with them.

ACR Homes cares about providing the best quality of care to our residents. When you are hired as a Direct Care Professional, you will work with at least 1 other co-worker to care for the needs of the 4 people with disabilities that live in the home.
