How You'll Contribute:
Be a caregiver for camper’s social, emotional and physical needs.
Be a leader of fun, friends and adventure.
Assist individuals with physical disabilities or other limitations who need support with eating meals, walking, transferring, using the bathroom, etc.
Manifest a loving and inclusive environment.
Gain invaluable professional hard and soft skills.
Provide opportunities for kids and adults of all abilities to reach outside of their comfort zones and experience adventure and skill building they don’t get anywhere else.
Set clear expectations, ensure basic needs are being met, build rapport, and create opportunities for fun and learning.

What You'll Bring to the Table:

Comfortable supporting others with daily living skills (we train you!)

How You'll Contribute:
Use & learn skills to lead a variety of activities from high ropes to arts and crafts, from large group games to adaptive archery and so. much. more.
Learn how to adapt all activities to meet the needs of campers or all ages and abilities.
Create opportunities for empowerment and independence.
Facilitate team building, social skill development, and just plain fun.
Have the opportunity to share skills and hobbies as a specific waterfront, recreation, or creative Activities Counselor or be a well-rounded counselor offering a variety of activities

Schedule: Seasonal beginning in March 2024, part-time, flexible schedule

Pay: Stipend of $68-90 per day

How You'll Contribute:
Encourage travelers to participate in predetermined attractions
Include participants in discussions regarding optional attractions, scheduling and meal planning
Accommodate traveler’s dietary needs and restrictions
Ensure overall safety of the travel group
Remain present and engaged with the travelers throughout the duration of the trip
Administer medications
Assist travelers with personal care, behavioral support, and emotional support needs
Manage trip finances and traveler’s spending money
Participate in pre-trip staff meeting
Handle traveler check-ins and check outs
Complete necessary paperwork pertaining to the trip
Collaborate with fellow travel DSPs on the trip to facilitate the vacation
Transport travelers during vacations using various vehicles, and driving in unfamiliar areas

What You'll Bring to the Table:
1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities
1 year of travel experience
Have an acceptable driving record and become an agency driver
Able to manage potentially stressful situations
Able to commit to a minimum of 2-3 trips per year
Possess sound reasoning and problem-solving skills and be able to make quick decisions
Ability to handle physical aggression and challenging behaviors
Fun and adventurous attitude desired
Medical Administration Certification (offered through organization for those not currently certified)
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred
Able to pass an organizational background study
