Wildlife Meds Help Intern

Location:

Minnesota

Type:

Internship

Accepted Majors:

Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources| Health Science| Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Position Description:

The Meds Help Internship is available to dependable applicants with a background in animal handling and/or veterinary assistance. You do not necessarily need to be a vet tech or vet student to apply.

This internship is a unique way to get hands-on experience with a wide variety of species, and work alongside our vet techs and the medical team. Meds Help Interns are responsible for drawing up and administering medications and fluids. They also perform treatments for our adult and critical nursery patients. You will be trained on each species and individual skill (oral medications, injections, fluid administration, supplemental feedings, etc.), and will be supervised until you have acquired skills to work independently.

To succeed in this role, you must have prior animal experience, strong attention to detail, and a flexible attitude. Interns have exclusive opportunities to learn from WRC veterinary and rehabilitation staff through internal webinars, release recovered patients back into the wild, and will be given a letter of recommendation for successful completion of the internship. There is room for further professional development at WRC beyond this role. Rabies vaccination and a current titer are required.

Meds Help interns will work 20-30 hrs/week, a combination of weekdays, weekends, days, and nights for a total of 300 hours.

To apply, email a resume and cover letter to ashley@wrcmn.org.
